Welcome to Group Fitness at Sun Oaks! Enjoy 143 group exercise classes per week with choices for everyone. We offer more aerobics, strength and flexibility class choices than any other gym, studio or club in the Redding area. Each program offers diversity, range and athleticism. All group fitness classes are included in your Sun Oaks Tennis and Fitness membership. Plus, we have Shotokan karate and lap swimming! Cycle 'Rock' Climb(PDF) - 'Rock' Climb is a fun, safe, engaging and beneficial class that is based on real cycling principles using real cycling training techniques. This 45 minute class is carefully designed to increase your stamina and strength while cycling to a motivational mix of classic rock, electronic and current hit music. YogaBliss - Spend one blissful hour practicing the art of Yoga. Enjoy a soothing environment designed to awaken the beautiful power of your breath, while improving flexibility and joint mobility. R & R- Wind down after a busy weekend and re-charge for your upcoming week. This class will feature an active flow designed to rejuvenate both body and soul in a non-competitive environment. R & R will also incorporate a "pranayama" or breath control practice. Designed to bridge the physical and meditative aspects of yoga, pranayama will leave the mind calm and uplifted. YogaFlow - This yoga class is designed to balance your body and mind through strengthening and stretching poses combined with breathing and focusing exercises. You will feel more invigorated and alive when strength-training elements are added seamlessly to your yoga practice. Your mind and heart will feel more relaxed and open when we practice awareness of self and breathing, deep relaxation, and the habit of attention. Senior Fitness Classes -
SilverSneakers Classic - Have fun and move to the music through a variety of exercises designed to increase muscular strength, range of movement, and activity for daily living skills. Hand-held weights, elastic tubing with handles, and a ball are offered for resistance, and a chair is used for seated and/or standing support. Basketball Court
SilverSneakers Yoga (Senior Stretch) – This class will move your whole body through a complete series of seated and standing yoga poses. Chair support is offered to safely perform a variety of postures designed to increase flexibility, balance and range of movement. Restorative breathing exercises and final relaxation will promote stress reduction and mental clarity. Basketball Court
Senior Fitness - Move it and improve it with functional fitness for seniors. Focus on your cardiovascular fitness, flexibility, coordination and strength. Shake off the rust and oil those parts for a healthier lifestyle. This class will require getting down and up from the floor. Bring water, wear some sort of tennis shoe and comfy clothes. Water Fitness Classes –
Sun Oaks offers a variety of classes in the pool for everyone, from water walking to athletic interval training! Water Group Fitness Class Schedule
Power-30 – P-30 is an Interval Training class, alternating segments of high intensity cardiovascular or muscular conditioning with a recovery segment of low to moderate intensity. 20 seconds of intense work is combined with 10 seconds of rest. This is a fast paced 30 minute class to train and condition your body.
Total AquaFit – Total Aqua is a 50 minute complete body workout. During this class you will be utilizing different pool toys; hand buoy’s, noodles, sliders, tubing and various other creative tools to get a cardiovascular workout with added resistance for gaining lean muscle mass.
Senior AquaFit – Senior AquaFit is a full body 45 minute exercise class. We will be using hand buoy’s and noodles during this class to assist in muscle strengthening. During this class there will be many options given for those who need less impact due to injury and general health concerns.
Deep-30 – D-30 is a deep water, suspended Cardio/Core class. All participants need to be swimmers. Noodles will be available but not used 100% of the time. During this class we will focus on strengthening our Core Muscles while getting a Cardiovascular workout. Dive on in!
