This branch of health care has a variety of therapeutic approaches that work to improve a person's health and well-being through the hands-on manipulation of the body's muscles and soft tissues. Therapeutic massage stimulates the relaxation response to stress. This action sends messages to the body to relax, slow down, and take a deep breath. When we are more relaxed, we can monitor our bodies responses and needs, making it possible to release tension before it becomes chronic and damaging.
