A Guide to Personal Training
What is Personal Training? Personal Training is a guided workout session with a certified fitness professional.
What is Involved in a Session? Come prepared to sweat and smile as your trainer coaches you through a workout designed to meet your fitness goals. Your first session will focus on a fitness assessment to give your trainer the tools to develop a series of workouts just for you!
Who is Personal Training for? Personal Training is valuable for everyone. Whether you are an inexperienced exerciser or an elite athlete, a trainer’s job is to help you maximize your efforts.
How Often Should You Train? The type of training program you need depends upon your goals. In your partnership with your trainer, you will develop a plan that fits with your lifestyle and schedule.
How Can You Expect to Feel? Before Training – It is normal to feel apprehensive before your first session if the weight room is unfamiliar territory. Relax and let your trainer show you what to and you will begin to feel at home. During Training – When you first begin training your objective is to learn new exercises. As you progress you can slowly begin to increase the intensity of your workouts with your trainer’s guidance. After Training – At the start of any exercise program you are likely to experience muscle soreness. This is because your body is adjusting to the demand being place on your muscles and it is perfectly normal.
What to Wear – The most important thing is to wear comfortable workout attire. Also, be sure to wear comfortable athletic shoes. You should feel comfortable enough to move and sweat.
What to Bring – Bring your towel, your water bottle and your energy!
Arrive Early – Appointments may be scheduled back-to-back. Arrive early so you can begin on time.
